Investments in Technology and Digitalization

For several years now, Unterschütz has been systematically modernizing its machining operations at the Hettstedt site. New machining centers, high-performance turning and milling centers, and efficient automation solutions are driving sustainable increases in productivity and quality. 3D design data is fed directly into digitally programmed, fully automated manufacturing processes.
This is also transforming the job profiles within the company. “Our skilled workers are now process designers,” says Philipp Unterschütz. “They are constantly working on topics such as automation, value creation, productivity, and safety, and are actively driving further development.” Many of these specialists began their careers with an apprenticeship at the company. Securing expertise for the long term is part of the strategic focus, as is the intergenerational leadership of the family business.

A Family Business with a Global Perspective

The Unterschütz Group is not just a family business in name; it embodies this culture in its day-to-day interactions. Short decision-making processes, trust, and a strong team spirit characterize the collaboration among its approximately 100 employees. “For us, being a family business means taking responsibility for our employees, our customers, and the region,” says Philipp Unterschütz.
This approach is combined with international market strength. Today, systems from Saxony-Anhalt are in operation in the Middle East, the U.S., India, and Taiwan. At the same time, a large portion of the value added is deliberately kept in the region. A clear commitment to the location.

Investing in People: Skilled Workers as the Key

Securing and developing skilled workers is a top priority. Each year, the corporate group aims to fill new apprenticeship positions. Many managers started out as apprentices themselves, a sign of a commitment to fostering young talent and sustainable succession planning.
In addition to regional training, the company also focuses on recruiting international skilled workers. Currently, three trainees from Vietnam are completing their training at the company. Modern technology, a high degree of automation, future-proof products, and digital processes make Unterschütz an attractive employer.
Individual training opportunities, clear career paths, and a trusting corporate culture strengthen employee retention. Benefits include, among other things, provided work clothing, childcare support, health and retirement benefits, full coverage of training costs, flexible working hours, a cafeteria subsidy with restaurant-quality meals, as well as events, team-building activities, and an in-house padel court.
